Hello There

Horseshoe Canyon

Hey, I'm Austin. I'm a web developer, dog lover, home cook, mountain biker, and many other things that are subject to change.

This blog is a place for talking about whatever I'm learning or in some cases failing brilliantly.

I'm not sure what I'll be building by the time you read this, but I hope I'm able to share back a tiny bit to a community that has helped me learn so much.

Fun fact I took all the photos on this page. This first one is Horseshoe Bend. A beautiful albeit touristy stop along the highway in Arizona.

Technologies

React.js

Next.js

Tailwind

Framer

JavaScript

Vite

Prettier

TypeScript

AWS

These technologies provide a snapshot of some of my interests as a developer. A lot of my work focuses on crafting UI with React.

This includes fully client-side rendered apps as well as server-rendered apps using frameworks like Next.

I'm a fan of Motion for animations and prefer Tailwind for styles.

Here are some places you can find me and see what I'm up to.

Follow along for updates on recent projects as well as quick takes or helpful tips about different technologies I'm using.

I kicked off the blog with some tips on building scroll-linked experiences using Motion for React.

Goals

Kenosha Pass

I want to make the web more fun and accessible for everyone. I'm committed to pushing my boundaries technically and creatively toward that end.

I'm interested in leveraging technology to solve real problems. I find joy in building apps that create both a positive impact and strong emotional connection.

Some recent passion projects include a workout tracker app and an AI color palette generator.

This photo is from Kenosha Pass in Colorado. I used to live about an hour drive from this spot. Great area for hiking, mountain biking, and leaf peepin' as you can see from the colors.

Outside of Work

RMNP

My hobbies outside of work center mostly around food, music, travel and the outdoors.

I do a lot of cooking at home. I love sharing what I cook and connecting with people through food. Throwing on some tunes and whipping up a good dish is also a great way to offset all that screen time.

Getting outdoors is key for me. Notable adventures over the years include mountain biking trips to Moab and Pisgah National Forest along with backcountry camping treks across the front range of the Colorado Rockies.

That could also mean taking the dog for a trail run, doing some gardening, or going on a stroll to my favorite brewery or coffee shop.

I wouldn't be surprised if these interests inspire some web development projects in the future.

This last photo was taken while hiking above Lake Louise in Banff, Canada. One of many scenic gems I experienced on a summer trip that included backpacking in and around Banff National Park.
